Item description

Stunning and very rare parchment dining room set, designed by Vittorio Dassi between the 1940s and 1950s. The Sideboard is characterized by a demilune shape case, having top and doors covered in parchment, with the central panel decorated by a superb inlay decoration of a still-life scene attributable to Giovanni Gariboldi. All the internal compartments are equipped with maple shelves, the one on the left opening to reveal three drawers. The dining Table has the oval top fully covered in parchment. Both items coming from a Sicilian villa in Palermo, and are in very good conditions of the period as well as the images show, with slight signs of wear consistent with age and gentle use. We have cleaned the parchment paper and refinished wooden surfaces and now are ready to use. Item dimensions in cm: Table 79 (h) x 200 (w) x 104 (d) Sideboard 98 (h) x 287 (w) x 51 (d) The Table is illustrated in: "Il mobile italiano degli anni Quaranta e Cinquanta" by Irene de Guttry and Maria Paola Maino Editori Laterza 1992, p. 55
