Item description

Pair of transparent crystal candlesticks, typical example of Art Deco. For their execution the so-called superior crystal was used, that is with a percentage of lead oxide over 30%. The high content of lead, instead of calcium, present in the common glass, gives the crystal a remarkable hardness, exceptional transparency, and a high refractive index. The two candlesticks are exclusive also for their unusual and personal shape. The craftsman wanted to recreate the image of the flames in the two artifacts, he shaped the crystal in a masterly way making it wrap even on himself creating two objects with a soft, pleasant line and elegant. They were produced in France in 1925, in the district of Nancy, famous for the high concentration of factories and artisans specialized in crystal processing (Daum, Baccarat, Saint Louis, etc.).
