Item description
The 'Asymmetrical' glass, designed by Joe Colombo in 1964 and made, starting in 1968, by Riedel of Kufstein, Austria. Colombo's first version, called 'Smoke' designed for Arnolfo di Cambio has a shorter stem with a flattened base. Colombo later designed 'Asymmetrical', for use in receptions where the user remained standing. The stem has a longer, more rounded shape that fits in the hollow of the palm between the thumb and index finger, while the cup rests directly on the back of the hand, allowing the hand to open and turn without tipping the glass. The glasses are in excellent condition with no signs of wear. Each glass has both the designer's name and company name engraved on it (see photo). The set consists of 8 glasses.
