Item description

Oil painting on canvas depicting St. Teresa of Avila, one of the most important figures of the catholic reformation through her work as a writer and founder of the discalced carmelite nuns and friars. The painting is of great pictorial quality, note the skill with which the painter depicted the Saint's hands, the folds of her robes and the memento mori, or skull, a warning about the transience of life. Non-coeval lacquered and gilded frame with some signs of time. Work that has undergone restoration with rintelo and repainting in some small places, overall in excellent state of preservation.
