Item description
Italian painting from the end of the 19th century. First oil on canvas work depicting Lo Sbadiglio, portrait of a bored young schoolboy by an excellent painterly hand. Nicely sized and pleasantly decorated painting adorned with a non-coeval wooden frame. A work that stands out for its extraordinary naturalism and the virtuosity of the painter in depicting an almost caricatured grimace in such an excellent manner. Note the finely painted inkwell and sheets on the bench (see photo). Painting signed top right De Servi (see photo) referable to the Tuscan painter Luigi De Servi (1863-1945) lacking authentication. Work that has undergone a slight restoration with colour recovery in one point of the student's jacket, overall in good state of preservation. Light painting H 59 x W 39 cm.
