Large Belgian painting dated 1920. First oil on canvas work depicting Portrait of a Gentleman (Alfons Baudts 1847-1921) of excellent painterly hand. Painting of great size and impact with wood and plaster frame, carved and gilded, with some missing decoration (see photo) to be restored. Work for antique dealers, interior decorators and antique portrait collectors, ideal for inclusion in a living room or studio. Painting signed and dated lower right (see photo), referable to Belgian painter Leo Steel (1878-1938), lacking authentication. Canvas showing small stains and signs of time (see photo). In fair condition, in need of restoration. Light painting H 113 x W 83 cm.
