Antique Italian painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting biblical subject Tobiolo restoring sight to his father Tobias, of excellent painterly hand. Painting of beautiful size and proportion adorned with an antique, non-coeval, finely chiselled and gilded frame with some signs of time (see photo). Painting depicting the famous scene in which Tobiolo, accompanied by the faithful hound and the angel Raphael, manages to restore his old father's sight thanks to the gall from the fish caught during the journey. A work characterised by the delightful positioning of the characters and their elegant deportment, the quality of their clothing and hands (see photo). Painting that has undergone conservative restoration, re-staining, frame replacement and colour restoration in places (see photo). Painting for antiquarians, interior decorators and collectors of antique sacred art, easily placed in various parts of the home. In good condition and with beautiful patina.
