BRONZE Seller in Milano, Italy
Colored aquatint made by Vittorio Raineri (1797-1869) from the original drawing by Carlo Antonio Raineri (1765-1826) depicting a golden-feathered heron, another exotic bird, and a black beetle, in a natural setting, ca. 1830. Within frame. The work is part of a series of ornithological decorations from the patterns of the tapestries of the Villa Reale in Monza made around 1790. For further details: AA. VV. Gli uccelli dei Raineri, Milan, 1994, no. 23 b. The work is in well-preserved condition with some defects, elevations and craquelure.
