Refined center table supported by a baluster frame in wood stained with faux porphyry or dark glossy mahogany, which rests on a three-star base. The latter is embellished with elegant decorative elements in golden brass depicting sturgeons (or stylized dolphins) typical of the Neoclassical and Empire style. The piece of furniture is crowned by a large circular onyx top in warm amber tones, characterized by very spectacular natural veins.
Conservation status and details:
The table appears structurally solid, but shows obvious signs of age and use concentrated mainly on the top. There are widespread superficial scratches on the polishing of the stone and some chips/missings on the external perimeter edge, as highlighted in the detailed images. The wooden base and the bronzes have a natural patina and slight wear consistent with the era.
