Product Description:
We propose an icon of international design: the D.S. sideboard. 5 designed in 1918 by the Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and produced in Italy by Cassina within the prestigious and historic "I Maestri" collection.
This example dates back to the 1980s, purchased by a single owner at the historic Orma Casa sales point in Empoli. The piece of furniture is in excellent condition with completely original finishes.
Distinctive features and construction details:
Structure: Made of fine black-stained ash wood, which allows a glimpse of the natural grain of the wood (open-pore lacquering).
Central mosaic: The stand hosts the famous "Glasgow Rose" (30x30 cm) in the center, made with the lead binding technique on opalescent and colored glass.
Inlays: The structure is embellished with square tiles in real mother-of-pearl (3.3x3.3 cm) arranged vertically on the sides of the central panel.
Space organization: The base has six upper drawers equipped with knobs finished with square mother-of-pearl inserts and three spacious lower doors with key lock.
Certification: The original Cassina D.S. authenticity booklet is supplied. 5, together with the presence of the factory punched mark and the designer's signature imprinted on the wood.
A piece of great stage presence, ideal for collectors of twentieth century design, galleries or high profile interior design projects.
