Item description

A distinctive example of Bauhaus design from the 1930s, this tubular steel console table was produced by Robert Slezák in former Czechoslovakia, a leading manufacturer of modernist metal furniture during the interwar period. The piece features a chrome-plated tubular steel frame supporting two green lacquered beech wood shelves — a larger top and a smaller lower tier. The clean lines, open construction, and light proportions embody the Bauhaus principle of functional beauty through industrial materials and refined simplicity. This model reflects Slezák’s signature precision and craftsmanship, seamlessly merging form and function. Its versatile proportions make it ideal as a console table, plant stand, or display table in both modern and vintage-inspired interiors. The table remains in well-preserved original condition, with light traces of wear and patina consistent with age, highlighting its authentic vintage character.
