An iconic artifact of interwar functionalism, this rare Bauhaus tubular steel sofa was produced by Hynek Gottwald in former Czechoslovakia during the 1930s. Its gracefully curved chromed steel frame exemplifies the movement's ideal of industrial elegance, paired here with newly upholstered cushions in black vegan leather that complement the cool precision of the metal structure. The flowing frame, constructed in polished, chrome-plated tubular steel, remains in excellent original condition with a light, even patina. Its sculptural side profile, complete with integrated armrests and platform support, offers not only striking visual appeal but ergonomic comfort and structural durability—a perfect synthesis of Bauhaus principles. The upholstery is freshly renewed in black vegan leather, offering both sustainability and style while staying true to the sofa’s minimalist spirit. Whether placed in a modernist interior, gallery setting, or collector’s showcase, this piece remains as relevant and inspiring today as it was nearly a century ago.
