The Praxi table lamp is an icon of Italian industrial design, created by the multi-award-winning designer Bruno Gecchelin for iGuzzini. A masterpiece of ergonomics and mechanical beauty, the Praxi is renowned for its pantograph movement, which allows the light to be positioned with extreme precision while maintaining a slim, architectural profile. This specific iteration in vibrant red and matte black is a quintessential example of the Hi-Tech movement. The lamp features a weighted base for stability, a flexible articulated arm, and a rotatable semi-spherical shade that provides glare-free task lighting. Gecchelin's work for iGuzzini during this period focused on the 'machine-aesthetic,' where every bolt and joint becomes a decorative element of the design. The Praxi is highly sought after by collectors of Italian studio lighting for its blend of functionality and graphic presence. Its bold color and sophisticated engineering make it an ideal desk lamp for a high-end creative workspace or a modernist library.
