A wonderfully unusual vintage table lamp, most likely produced in Europe during the 1950s. The lamp features charming Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs imagery and an exceptionally decorative hand-laced construction.
Both the sculptural shade and base are assembled from individually shaped panels finished with colourful textile cord. The surfaces are covered with an early plastic material, with aluminium foil underneath and hand-painted decorative details. The exact type of plastic is unknown. The base features floral motifs, while the shade depicts Snow White and the dwarfs in a woodland setting.
The shade is relatively opaque, creating a soft, subtle light rather than strong illumination. The lamp was most likely intended as a children’s night lamp. The shade attaches directly to the bulb with a clip and is slightly crooked, as visible in the photographs.
The lamp retains its vintage fabric-covered cord and inline switch. It uses one E14 bulb and has a European plug. It remains in very good original condition, with minor patina and signs of age consistent with its vintage character.
A rare and playful piece of mid-century European lighting with wonderful decorative appeal.
