Unique and rare old master painting from 17th century. Adam & Eva in paradise. Look at those amazing animals around! After a consultation with professional, we found out a few facts about this painting: 1) This painting has most likely been painted around 17th century. It has been relined in the 19th century. A lot of old restoration and overpaint over actual paint visible under UV light. 2) it has been cut from larger canvas painting at some point in history - notice animals in corner cut in half which is not usual. We assume that damage to original canvas was too much and because of this it was cut and reduced in size. 3) I can not find visible signature. It was not common during that time to sign paintings, however signature can still be found under all this old overpaint and good investigation with right tools. 4) this painting style is very similar to Izaack van Oosten (1613-1661) could be his circle or follower. There are also many similarities with painting “ The Earthly Paradise “ Jan Brueghel || the younger. Conclusion: this painting has many secrets, and is yet to be discovered. Condition: loss of paint in parts around the edges. Overpaint and very old restoration. Antique frame (wood) Measurements: with frame 57-48cm without frame 45-37 cm.
