Historical-Artistic and Stylistic Description
The work represents an elegant and intimate florent composition, centered on a transparent glass vase that houses a bouquet of yellow cosmetics (often associated with a vibrant variety of wild daisies). Next to the vase, lying on a dark surface that hints at a delicate interplay of reflections, are a split pomegranate, which showcases the brilliance of its grains and a small bunch of white grapes in the background.
Style and Light: The painting follows in the tradition of 20th-century Tuscan still life, recovering warm and intimate atmospheres of late 19th-century origin. The choice of a dark and vibrant background serves to bring out the bright brightness of the yellow petals and the chromatic richness of the pomegranate. The brushstrokes are material, fluid and full-bodied, particularly evident in the definition of the petals and in the pulp of the fruit, giving the whole a notable executive freshness.
Inscriptions and Authenticity: The work is signed at the top right "G. N. Colosimus". On the back of the canvas, the contemporary loom houses the artist's full signature, "G. Nattiello Colosimo", accompanied by an indication of the city of Florence, essential for placing the author in the post-Macchiaiolo panorama or in the Tuscan trade union exhibitions of the twenty/thirty years.
Status of Preservation and Presentation
The painting is presented in first canvas, mounted on its original wooden frame. The painted surface shows the natural and fascinating "craquelé" of the time, which attests to the authenticity and integrity of the pictorial film without restoration work.
The work is presented with a gold cassette frame with light-colored fabric passpartout, which enhances its overall brightness and makes it ready to be inserted into both antique settings and eclectic and modern furniture settings.
