Designed by Eugenio Gerli for Tecno, this six-door sideboard belongs to the mature phase of the designer’s long collaboration with Osvaldo and Fulgenzio Borsani, the Milanese firm that from the late 1950s onward set the tone for Italian design culture built on functionalist rigor. Gerli, active with Tecno for over three decades, is best known for the S83 chair and the Graphis office system he co-developed with Borsani; his case pieces from the same period carry the same disciplined, architectural language, reduced to essential volumes and continuous surfaces. The sideboard is finished in glossy black lacquer across a six-door front, each door fitted with a slender cylindrical knob in polished chrome-plated metal — a hardware detail typical of Tecno’s production and consistent with the brand’s preference for minimal, technical fittings over ornamental handles. The case sits on a plinth base and presents a continuous, unbroken top surface running the full 225 cm length, with mitred corners at the sides that read as a single volume rather than an assembly of visible joints.
