Item description

This refined bookcase was designed by Tito Agnoli for Caleido, a company belonging to the prestigious Frau Group, in the Seventies. It is a rare piece of furniture that is highly representative of the designer's research, capable of blending formal rigor, material elegance and an evident propensity for experimentation. The solid wood structure, with clean lines and balanced proportions, houses two distinct registers: the upper part, closed by sliding doors in smoked glass, and the lower part, characterized by two doors covered with a patchwork of very fine black pecary leather. This leather, used only in the highest range creations, is hand-sewn with great precision, creating an irregular geometric design that gives the furniture a unique and sophisticated character. The upper section in smoked glass, with internal shelves, is ideal for displaying books, design collections or decorative objects, but at the same time it lends itself perfectly to hosting bottles and glasses, transforming the furniture into an elegant domestic bar. The contrast with the leather-covered lower part creates a play of materials and functions that combines lightness and transparency with tactile and material depth. The dialogue between functionality and beauty is the poetic heart of the project: Agnoli demonstrates once again how design can go beyond simple practical use, to gain an aesthetic and sensorial experience. Not surprisingly, many of his pieces are now considered true collectible works of art.
