Extraordinary table “Diamond - Sculpture 99” designed by Luciano Frigerio for Frigerio di Desio in the 1970s, belonging to the very rare limited series consisting of only 99 units.
It is one of the 99 originals produced by the Frigerio atelier, today considered among the most sought-after and representative pieces of the master's work. The table is sold accompanied by an official authentic issued by the Frigerio heirs, who definitively certifies its provenance and originality.
The sculptural base, made of African Padouk, is composed of an architectural sequence of superimposed modular elements, worked and interlocked with absolute precision.
The protruding and recessed parts create a complex geometric rhythm, with an alternation of solids and voids that recalls the Brutalist aesthetic and the great tradition of Italian cabinetmaking.
The surfaces, perfectly smoothed and deep in the grain, dialogue with the three-dimensional modulations of the individual strips, transforming the base into a true monolithic sculpture. The upper plane, made of ground crystal, amplifies the perception of the volume below and allows the structure to emerge in all its plastic force.
Luciano Frigerio, a central figure in post-war Italian design, conceived in the 1960s and 1970s a series of limited-edition sculptural furnishings (Scultura99) made with noble materials and with a strongly sculptural formal vision.
Among these, the model “Diamante” represents one of his most emblematic and rare creations, a perfect synthesis of monumentality, excellent craftsmanship and aesthetic research.
