Item description

French wool carpet with mosaic design, in the style of Henry Christine. The design recalls a Byzantine or Roman mosaic, with small stylized tiles that create the visual effect of colored stones. The motifs are symmetrical and floral, with a large central medallion surrounded by plant figures. The predominant colors are red, blue, green, beige and black which marks the contours, giving greater depth to the drawing and a green border which frames the composition. The optical illusion is that of an ancient mosaic made of small stones, but in reality it is wool fabric which gives the carpet softness and warmth
