Cassina Duc two-seater sofa in original burgundy velvet, 1970s design by Mario Bellini
Mario Bellini's 1976 Duc project is based on the combination of cutting-edge materials and innovative structural technology. The characteristic structure of panels assembled with zippers was a revolutionary solution for its time.
Both the panels and cushions are upholstered in smooth burgundy/eggplant velvet with camel/gold trim. The panels are held together by zippers, a feature of the entire Duc line. The padded cushions have removable covers.
There is a Cassina, Meda adhesive label on one of the feet.
The sofa is solid and stable, still contemporary and in a very rare and elegant color. Signs of wear are more evident along the legs and there are some missing pieces of fabric (see photos), but otherwise it is in excellent condition, with signs of normal use.
