Item description

Decorative pair of late 19th century English style giltwood wall sconces, richly carved with scrolled acanthus leaves and shell motifs in the neo-Baroque taste. Each sconce features a central cartouche flanked by two candle arms, creating a balanced and symmetrical composition characteristic of historicist design. The surfaces retain a warm and original golden finish with a slightly aged patina, which enhances the sculptural depth of the carving. Details are sharp and well preserved, indicating high-quality craftsmanship. The wall lights were electrified at a later stage, fitted with discreet candle-shaped lamp holders and flame-shaped bulbs, allowing for practical modern use while preserving the historic appearance.
