Item description

Splendid and authentic oil painting on canvas from the second half of the 19th century (circa 1860-1880), depicting a rural genre scene (peasants resting during the harvest). The work is clearly of Austrian/Central European origin and school and is legibly signed "Frisch" on the bottom right. TECHNICAL FEATURES: - Technique: Oil on canvas - Period: Second half of the 19th century (19th century) - Signature: "Frisch" (coeval and integrated into the pictorial film) - Support: ORIGINAL CANVAS AND FRAME OF THE PERIOD. The frame is of the wedge/weld type for tensioning. The work has NOT undergone modern reframes. STORAGE CONDITIONS: The painting is in good general condition with a beautiful and widespread natural "craquelure" due to age. On the back of the canvas there are 5 period conservative restoration patches, historically applied to protect small holes, which do not affect the beauty of the front. Sound and genuine work from a private collection, never seen on the recent market. Dimensions: 42.5 cm x 31.5 cm
