Description: Ancient alabaster sculptural group belonging to the Napoleon III period of the second half of the nineteenth century.
The work shows two finely draped figures in an affectionate gesture positioned on a rock base.
The adult female figure acts as a visual and structural fulcrum while the girl leans on her right side creating a sinuous line that guides the viewer's eye from bottom to top.
The main figure wears a classically inspired tunic (chiton) tight under the chest while with his left hand he lifts the hem of the skirt with a graceful gesture, revealing the advanced left foot.
The face is idealized with symmetrical and serene features framed by hair gathered with a ribbon at the nape of the neck.
The secondary figure is caught in a dynamic pose of affectionate abandonment towards the maternal figure and is partially surrounded by a thin drape.
