Item description

This oil painting on panel is by Ettore Cumbo (also known as Ettore Cumbo Borgia), a landscape painter born in Messina in 1833 and died in Florence in 1899. Style and period: After initial training in engineering, he devoted himself to landscape painting, particularly embracing the Florentine Impressionist movement and forging ties with 19th-century Tuscan artistic circles. The work, presented in a gilded wooden frame, is an oil painting dated 1872; it depicts a Roman landscape embellished with ancient ruins, probably an ancient Roman aqueduct or an archaeological site in the countryside. Signed and dated. Excellent condition. Dimensions: painted 48 x 30 cm; frame 60 x 43 cm.
