A unique and very special Austrian chair made of oak wood, the backrest is very high and well outlined with an original design and linear decorations carved into the wood. On the top, there is a painted panel depicting a beautiful scene of a Dutch landscape with three maidens running in a meadow and a boy trying to catch a clog (the typical komplen) lost by one of the maidens. The whole scene may bring to mind the fairy tale of Cinderella. The very basic seat is made from a square oak slab, the front legs are enriched at the top by simple carved floral decorations, the back legs are made from the extension of the backrest. The chair was handmade in Vienna between 1926 and 1928. The craftsmen who worked on this chair succeeded in creating an extraordinary piece of furniture, refined and convincing. We decided not to do any restoration work on the wooden frame because its veiled surface patina and its small imperfections make it truly seductive and fascinating and attest to its antiquity and authenticity. Seat height: 46cm.
