Large early 20th century Art Nouveau painted bronze vase of fine Italian manufacture. The vase has a round base with four thick, sinuous feet, reminiscent of those on old stoves. The four feet are grandly decorated: in fact, in addition to curving very delicately, one also notices a special treatment of the bronze, with carvings and grooves. The frame of the base seems to be embroidered with a very fine and delicate circle motif. Above this thin frame we see another, also spherical, but much more massive and conspicuous. Above this we see a narrowing that creates the actual base of the vase. The central body of the vase, also with an imposing shape, is made of ceramic. Here we notice a splendid painting showing the meeting of two young people, a man and a woman, probably in love. She is painted in a very graceful pose, wearing a long cream-coloured robe and a pink shawl. He, on the other hand, approaches the damsel, placing a hand on her shoulder, exemplifying an intimate gesture that suggests a love affair. Both are depicted wearing a headdress, which would appear to date back to the 1600s. The scene is framed by bushes of white and pink flowers, indicating the purity of love. Further up the side one can see the two handles used to move the vase from one place to another: the attachment is the face of what would appear to be a man with a long beard, from whose head rises the sinuous bronze handle. The entire handle is reminiscent of a still life, with very delicate leaves. The neck of the vase bears another very beautiful bronze frame. On the inside, a very light teal colour can be seen. The large Art Nouveau vase is suitable for sumptuous spaces. Wear consistent with age and use. The vase is in good original period condition, with minor scratches.
