We are pleased to present this early 20th century oil on panel painting. This splendid nude of a young woman has a red signature on the back (not perfectly legible), probably G. Desantis with the date 1901 (barely legible). Probably the work of the Italian painter Giuseppe De Sanctis (Naples, 21 June 1858 – Naples, 18 June 1924), lacking authenticity.
It is a fascinating painting in which a young woman is portrayed in all her sensuality. The lying woman is partially covered by a white sheet that leaves her breasts exposed. The woman presents typically Mediterranean characteristics: Her thick black hair is gathered up, her red lips stand out against her pale complexion: every detail reveals the painter's ability to depict a female nude with extreme poeticity and sensitivity. The pictorial quality is evident in a highly personal style, characterized by decisive and material brushstrokes and a masterful use of light and colour. Notice how even the white sheet takes on multiple shades. Its small size makes it even more attractive.
A wonderful painting that will enchant your guests! If you love early twentieth century art, you absolutely must add this splendid painting to your collection.
The painting is presented in a stunning carved and gilded wooden frame.
