Item description

Finely executed antique portrait study attributed to a follower of Sir Peter Paul Rubens, dating from the late 17th to early 18th century. Painted in oil on what appears to be a board form or stiff cardboard support, the work displays a strong baroque character, expressive treatment and a rich, atmospheric presence. A decorative and collectible piece, ideal for collectors of Flemish and antique-inspired paintings. Origin: Formerly in a European private collection; purchased in the 1930s on the antiques market in Vienna (Austria). The object has been in Europe for several decades.
