Item description

Oil on canvas. Lombard school of the 19th century. The character depicted is Giuseppe Antonio Polli (1770 -1837), a gentleman originally from Oggebbio (Verbania), who was orphaned at 10 years old and moved to Milan where the family resided for decades, actively participating in the life of the city. The painting is probably derived from the identical one signed Eliseo Sala. The canvas has undergone restoration and re-lining in the past. It is presented in a stylish frame.
