Item description

Oil on canvas. The Holy Family is depicted here with the infant Saint John and a crowned saint, likely Saint Catherine of Alexandria, the princess who was martyred on the wheel. Baby Jesus is tenderly reaching out to his Mother, who is lifting him from the cradle, while Joseph watches attentively behind them. The figures are set in a Nordic landscape. The canvas, already restored and relined in the mid-20th century, currently features several small paint losses.
