Splendid French painting from the mid-19th century. Oil work on panel depicting a wonderful river landscape, of notable pictorial quality. We see a watercourse flowing between rocks and vegetation, dominated by the presence of a picturesque rural building with a high sloping roof. The scene opens towards a bright sky crossed by light clouds, while delicate mountain ranges emerge in the distance, rendered with refined atmospheric perspective.
On the right, along the bank of the stream, we notice a small figure of a solitary fisherman, who gives a poetic and contemplative character to the scene. The composition, built with balance between shaded areas and bright openings, reveals a painting sensitive to the tradition of the European romantic landscape. The rendering of moving water and illuminated foliage is particularly effective, obtained through a lively and vibrant brushstroke.
Painting signed Peyron on the bottom left, referable to the French painter Jacques Guillaume Achille Peyron, a talented landscape painter from Saint-Germain-en-Laye who participated in the Paris Salon between 1831 and 1844 (the work is not currently accompanied by an expertise, but it is possible to request it upon payment of the relevant additional costs). Ideal painting for refined, classic or contemporary environments, capable of bringing the poetry of the romantic landscape into the domestic environment. Spectacular contemporary frame in wood and gilded plaster, beautifully decorated, with some small defects and signs of aging (see photo). Overall, it is in a good state of conservation. Light painting H 35 x W 26.5 cm.
