Important Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil work on canvas depicting a large still life with fruit, of notable pictorial quality. Immersed in a splendid landscape we find a table laden with fruit and covered with precious damask fabrics. We see velvety peaches, ripe figs, pears, citrus fruits, a bunch of grapes and an open watermelon showing its dark seeds. On the right we notice a flask of wine and a plate where some sweets and an elegant glass goblet are arranged.
To underline the attention to the different surfaces and the naturalistic data, such as the dew on the peel of the pears, the transparency of the glass, the moist pulp of the watermelon. The language and color palette refer to the northern Italian tradition of the second half of the 17th century. The balance between opulence and restraint suggests a silent reflection on the fleeting nature of life, making the painting not only an exercise in technical bravura but also a profoundly cultured work.
Spectacular 20th century frame in carved and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. Painting of great elegance and strong decorative impact, easily placeable but ideal for prestigious, classic or contemporary environments. A still life of this quality is particularly appreciated by international collectors because it is timeless, both as an investment and as a highly refined aesthetic choice. Work already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and restoration of color in some places. Overall in good state of conservation. Painting light H 65.5 x W 88 cm.
