We are pleased to present this oil on canvas from the 18th century Italian school. A splendid religious painting that sensitively depicts the Holy Family.
The Holy Family was a very common depiction in Italian religious art of the Baroque and late Baroque periods. In this painting, the composition is very typical: the Virgin Mary in the foreground holds Baby Jesus in her arms, while Joseph contemplates the scene to his left. In the background on the right you can see an ox. The painting is of excellent artistic quality, evident in the proportions, attention to detail and the use of typically baroque light, which diffusely illuminates Jesus and Mary (the protagonists of the painting).
Another significant detail is the gaze: the faces and gazes of Mary and Jesus are serenely turned towards the sky, a symbol of a deep bond with God and sweet acceptance of His will.
A wonderful painting for its pictorial quality and its profound religious message. If you love ancient Italian religious art, you absolutely must add this stunning painting to your collection.
The painting is sold as shown in the photo, without a traditional frame. It features a simple wooden frame and a hook on the back for hanging on the wall.
The painting has undergone a good quality restoration, with some retouching and relining.
