Item description

The Moon lamp, designed by Hans Agne Jakobsson, This is an iconic example of Scandinavian design from the 1960s, which combines elegance and modernity. Its design refers to the moon, hence the name - “Moon Lamp”. It is a ceiling lamp with a subtly rounded, spherical shape. The Moon lamp has a slender, sculptural shape that, when lit, can resemble the moon or a celestial object, creating a warm, moody glow. Jakobsson's works are characterized by a balance between minimalism and functionality, with an emphasis on quality workmanship. which were often characterized by clean lines, organic forms and an emphasis on natural materials. The lamp is made of thin pine slats. Vertical slats arranged like a fan to allow individual adjustment of the light. Circles arranged around the light source give a soft and indirect light. In 1951, Jakobsson founded the company named after him, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, in Markaryd, Sweden. It manufactures furniture as well as lamps. However, he enjoys international prestige primarily for his lighting designs. He experiments with a wide range of materials, such as brass, iron, glass, fabric and wood shavings, and plays with the use of light color and light direction, inspired by the nature of Sweden. On the center piece and on the bottom a small loss - visible in the photo.
