A very rare selection of IKEA BUNSÖ chairs, a discontinued model designed for children, presented here in a truly special version: these are IKEA internal samples, used between 2015 and 2016 for production testing, quality control, and product development. Unlike those normally available on the market, these chairs feature handwritten technical notes, signatures, dates, production notes, and the initials of IKEA engineers and designers, making them unique and one-of-a-kind items.
The colors are the model's iconic ones—red, green, pastel yellow, and white (x2)—but what makes them extraordinary is their history: each chair tells a piece of the IKEA industrial process. There are comments on quality (“partition line,” “drainage hole,” “leg shininess”), signatures such as that of Yoann Simon IKEA, precise dates, supplier initials, mold codes, machine cycles, and even critical notes.
One of the chairs also bears the name of the designer, Thomas Sandell, engraved in the material, confirming their originality
All pieces are made of polypropylene suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, and retain their shape and functionality despite normal signs of wear and tear
