Empire sideboard in cherrywood and black marble, 19th century
Pretty and small Empire sideboard in cherrywood. The upper top consists of precious black marble, under the top, we find a comfortable drawer, the functional space below is closed with two simple doors, one of which, for use over time, is slightly deformed, and the closure is not perfect (see photo). The columns on the sides are solid and well defined, the two trimmings for the locks are in gilded bronze and decorated with floral designs, the mechanism of the locks has been replaced over time. The style is a sober late Empire of 1850, in fact after the death of Napoleon (1814), during the post-Restoration period the rich Empire style became more linear, delicate, and contained in the dimensions of the furniture. This little sideboard is a characteristic example. Produced in France in 1850.
