FOLDABLE FIELD BED F.I.T. “LA RAPID” MILAN
Italian technical equipment – mid-twentieth century
Authentic folding camp bed produced by the Milanese manufacturer F.I.T. Rapid, active in the first half of the 20th century in the construction of foldable technical and military equipment.
Significant example of pre-industrial Italian utilitarian design: riveted tubular steel structure with exposed mechanical joints and original heavy raw canvas top. Completely preserved object, never restored, with coherent and uniform patina.
The construction is designed for continuous operational use: high structural strength, quick closure, total absence of decorative elements. A purely functional aesthetic that today dialogues with brutalist, minimalist environments and contemporary exhibition spaces.
