Stunning pair of Monroe model chairs (also known as Marilyn), an icon of post-modern design signed by renowned Japanese architect Arata Isozaki in 1972.
A precious testimony to excellent Italian production, they bear the original ICF SpA - Vimodrone/Milano label. ICF is historically known for producing the great classics of international design under license, ensuring extremely high quality standards.
The Monroe is characterized by its sculptural design: the 142 cm high slatted backrest is designed to appear geometric from the front and sinuous in profile, a tribute to the curves of Marilyn Monroe.
The structure is made of black lacquered beech wood; the lacquering is applied so as to allow a slight glimpse of the natural grain of the wood (the so-called "ebanized black"). The original upholstered seats are satin in a beautiful ice blue color: a very elegant and hard-to-find color combination.
The chairs are in magnificent condition, with still-tight padding and meticulously manicured lacquering. Minor stains under the seat.
