Coffee Table by Guglielmo Ulrich, 1950s
The oval shape is no accident: Ulrich loved curved lines because they gave spaces a fluidity that rectangular tables couldn't offer, while the top, crafted with a slightly flared edge, makes the wood appear lighter. Ulrich was aiming for composure; this table doesn't "shout" in the room, but rather conveys a sense of order and culture.
