An elegant fireplace mantel crafted from white marble with delicate grey veining and enriched with finely chased gilt-bronze mounts. The architectural composition is executed in the refined Louis XVI taste, distinguished by its harmonious proportions, symmetry and restrained neoclassical ornamentation. The frieze is decorated with a continuous band of interlaced rosettes enclosed within circular medallions, creating a rhythmic decorative motif across the entire entablature. The corner blocks are embellished with gilt-bronze peltas adorned with cherubic figures, while the jambs are highlighted by imposing gilt-bronze brackets enriched with acanthus leaves, floral garlands and classical decorative elements. The restrained geometry of the marble structure emphasizes the noble quality of the material and creates a striking contrast with the brilliance of the gilt-bronze ornamentation. This mantelpiece represents a distinguished example of French decorative arts from the Belle Époque period, when the historic styles of the eighteenth century were reinterpreted for the grand residences and refined interiors of the European elite. Dimensions: Height: 107 cm. Width: 136 cm. Depth: 36 cm. Condition: Good overall condition. Minor signs of age and use consistent with the period. The marble and gilt-bronze mounts are well preserved.
