The Coupé wall lamp (models 1158 and 1159/R) is one of the most celebrated icons of Italian design. Designed by Joe Colombo in 1967 for the Oluce brand, it won the prestigious International Design Award in 1968 and is exhibited in the permanent collections of the MoMA in New York. The Coupé wall lamp is essentially an arc wall lamp. It uses a refined and intelligent joint mechanism: the dome (the reflector) is connected to a long chrome-plated metal stem via a black plastic joint. This allows the light beam to be directed vertically and horizontally, as well as adjusting the height of the arc itself by sliding it on the base.
