These four sculptural chairs were a design hit of Sormani in the mid-1980s. Designed by renowned Italian designers group De Pas D'urbino Lomazzi, they are light, colored and ready to cheer up any environment: an entrance, a dining room, a bedroom. They are lacquered in China blue with the famous 20-gloss mat lacquer by Sormani.
size is H cm 77 x 42.5 x 46.5 (ft: H 2' 6" 5/16 x 1' 4" 47/64 x 1' 6" 5/16) seat height cm 44 ( ft:1' 5" 21/64).
The chairs are 35 years old, thus show minor wear and tear.
The cream/light yellow cushion fabric can be easily changed by any specialized upholsterer, should you want a customized pattern. There are just a couple of screws on the bottom to remove the round padding.
De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi designed a collection named "Sari" for Sormani in the early 1980s, of Japanese inspiration, where unusual shapes conferred a certain lightness to all models. The group of architects was otherwise an advocate of the pop culture (see "Joe" and "Blow" sofas).
The model was presented in 1983 at the Milan Fair and has been a best seller ever since. It comes with a "Certificate of Authenticity" on original vintage letterhead.
