SILVER Seller in Cremona, Italia
Louis XVI chest of drawers, panelled and inlaid. The front is marked by three drawers and straight sides embellished with filets and inlays in precious woods. The panelling is arranged obliquely, in a herringbone pattern, forming opposing mirrors and borders on the sides, top and front, decorated with double threading to enhance the contrast of the various woods used. The chest of drawers is supported by tapered, truncated pyramid feet typical of the period. The workmanship of the chest of drawers places it in the last quarter of the 1700s in the Lombardy area. The piece of furniture is in excellent condition, original and intact.
