Item description

Jacquard rug with 1930s aubusson pattern. No defects. Jacquard is a fabric that is made on a special loom. Conceived by a certain John the Calabrian, he went to France to the Sun King to propose the innovative invention, but found obstacles from the silk weavers guild ,who were afraid that this invention would take away their jobs. It was not until the late 1700s early 1800s that the Frenchman Jacquard, took up the design and perfected it by patenting it. This type of loom was the first example of work using punched cards, later also used by early electronic calculators. The Jacq1uard loom, still required the presence of a skilled craftsman to operate it. Jacquard fabrics are synonymous with great quality.
