Set of five folding chairs mod. Bauhaus B751 by Thonet, 1920s-30s. Made of steam bentwood. Set consists of four brown chairs and one black chair. Thonet chairs are an icon of Bauhaus design. Their simple, curvaceous lines, lightweight and durable construction, and use of innovative materials make them unique and timeless pieces. Thonet chairs were designed by Michael Thonet, a pioneer of industrial design. He used the technique of steam bent wood to create lightweight, durable chairs suitable for mass production. His chairs were an instant success and revolutionized the way homes were furnished. Thonet chairs are made of steam bent wood, a durable and flexible material. The wood, with its natural grain and warm tone, gives the chairs a warm and welcoming appeal.
