Pair of bookcases attributed to Claude Vassal, 1950s. French designer, pupil of Louis Sognot and graduate of the Ecole Boulle, he soon became one of the important figures in the new generation of post-war French designers. Associated with the Reconstruction movement for his creations borrowing materials such as oak, he developed a line of furniture with clear, architectural shapes.
