Item description

Exceptional pedestal table from the Biedermeier era made by great cabinet-makers. Its pieces reflect innovative design and craftsmanship of the highest quality. The Biedermeier, with their sophisticated proportions and rare and refined design, continue to have a great influence on modern design. The table is made of precious wood and features fine inlays on both the top and the base. The table top is veneered in walnut with a star pattern, accentuated by a deep amber tone. The pedestal is made in one piece. The base features a hexagonal motif with triangle-shaped inlays. The piece is beautifully veneered in walnut and has fine carved elements on the underside of the base. The Biedermeier is also very famous for the folding mechanism under the table top. The table will be an excellent addition to any elegant interior, as the Biedermeier is simply timeless and undoubtedly a highly crafted table. This style originated as a counterpoint to the so-called Empire Style, in the period immediately following the Congress of Vienna, from which a strong 'desire for normality' echoes. Especially for this reason, Biedermeier has often been referred to as the 'Restoration Style'. In reality, the underlying aim of the Biedermeier style is to exalt sobriety and harmony, borrowing some of the stylistic motifs of the previous period, but stripping them of all the ornaments, frills and excesses that had characterised it.
