The monumental new museum, opening July 18, 2021, is designed without straight lines or right angles, echoing the geometry of the universe and the dynamic energy of celestial motion. Its dynamic form creates an immersive experience that places visitors in direct engagement with real astronomical phenomena.

Thomas J. Wong, design associate at Ennead Architects, says: "The big idea of the Shanghai Astronomical Museum was to infuse the design of the structure with a visceral experience of the subject and to provide that kind of approach before you even enter the building. After visiting, at the end of the tour the experience culminates directly with the sky, which is framed and supported by the architecture."

The project confirms the interest in the celestial sphere and offers the unique possibility to enjoy space tourism here on earth.
