Consecrated by cinema and TV, the wardrobe is a room of wonders designed in the name of glamor and small retro-inspired treasures.

In recent years, interior designers and furnishing enthusiasts tell of an increase in the design of the walk-in closet in the spaces of the contemporary home. Tailor made with equipped walls, or obtained from pre-existing spaces, the closet becomes a room of wonders to be projected in detail and organized with care, intended for the whole family.

Is it all Hollywood magic fault? The great protagonist of a colossal like Gone with the Wind, Scarlett O'Hara, was after all one of the first trend setters in the history of cinema: her dressing room, organized with elegant hat racks and boxes with floral prints, is a riot of dresses and precious, fashionable fabrics: a vintage closet par excellence, ostentatious, rich in materials and colors to draw inspiration from even nowadays.

Since the early 2000s we have been bombarded with images of cinematic interiors featuring highly inspiring wardrobes. Think of the boom of cult TV series like Sex and The City, where the walk-in closet is one of the favorite room of fashion victim Carrie Bradshaw, who lives in a delightful Manhattan apartment on the Upper East side, almost entirely furnished with vintage pieces from flea markets.

Vintage inspiration is never lacking at the base of the most beautiful closets in films and TV series, starting from the fact that walk-in closet are in themselves areas with a special section dedicated to retro dresses, scarves, ties, footwear and jewelry. Which elements shouldn't you give up for a vintage touch in our closet? The vanity is unquestionably one of the most requested furnishings, especially in its version with mirror, together with comfortable ottomans and benches, usually covered with soft velvets. Thus the closet becomes a full-fledged relaxation zone.

The innumerable television productions dedicated to the world of the home have certainly taken steps to clear the closet in the collective imagination, together with reality shows following the lives of celebrities, immortalized in every phase of life at home featuring walk-in wardrobes of all sizes and styles, from the minimal to the most eccentric.

These inspirations break through the taste of a younger generations of interior enthusiasts, where the trend of a dreaming room dedicated exclusively to outfits is spreading more and more. Among hundreds of collectible shoes, bags and trunks illuminated by mirrored supports and vintage-style chandeliers, the closet in which the film The Bling Ring (2013) by Sofia Coppola is filmed (the real story of a young group who in 2008 made numerous thefts in some houses belonging to well-known showbiz personalities in the hills of Los Angeles,) is absolutely real, and is located in the house Paris Hilton lived in in those years.

But don't think that ladies are the only ones to have or desire personalized wardrobes because, remaining on the subject of great movies, it is enough to analyze the closet of Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby, played by an extraordinary Leonardo di Caprio, to discover a whole universe: in his scenographic closet, clearly inspired by the 20s and articulated on upholstered walls with Art Deco motifs, Jay houses hundreds of shirts and dresses meticulously divided by style, material and color, for a total of 500 outfits ... a great inspiration for who plans a reorganization of their walk-in closet!
